Why You Should Learn Medal Dancing

Many people come to us in the first place, to use their own words, "just to learn enough to get around the room".  Some do just that, but the majority stay with us for years, using the studio as a club in which to spend many happy hours with the friends they have made while learning.

The general purpose social style course is designed to get you moving around the dance floor, but you will have noticed the difference between dancing with a medalist and a beginner.

In the beginners Social Style course you learn basic steps and some hints on dancing but it does take longer than 10 weeks to become a really good, relaxed and confident dancer.  Also unless you are dancing frequently, you will not have been dancing long enough to retain what you have learnt.

Medal Courses give you the extra necessary experience to become a confident dancer with a greater range of steps and with much more pleasurable dancing, for yourself and any partner of equal or higher ability.

Partners are Not Necessary!

Courses Available

Bronze Medal Course - Full Bronze 8 Dance

This follows on from the Beginners Social Style Dance Course.  It is a 24 week course covering the 8 dances - Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Cuban Rhumba, Jive and Samba.

Bronze Medalists can attend up to 4 (1½ hour) Bronze Medal classes a week (though they only need to come to one), and they can attend any beginners Social Style classes.  They can certainly get lots of practice if they want!

Courses are divided into four sections with two dances in each.  This means you can really concentrate on learning those dances well.

Silver Medal Courses

The Silver Medal Course is the Gateway to advanced dancing with advanced variations and softer smoother flow for better controlled movement.

This is a 30 week course covering 8 dances - Waltz, Quickstep, Ballroom Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Cuban Rhumba, Jive and Samba.  Its format is similar to Bronze and will develop, advance and add to the variations learnt for Bronze.

Silver medalists can attend all Silver Medal classes and workshops, as well as Bronze Medal classes and beginners level Social style classes.  It is however only necessary to attend one Silver Medal class per week.  The extra classes are available for practice and to make it easier.
