Why Structured Courses?

Systems used in Auckland:

Casual system - Pay as you go. Sounds good but people attending when they feel like it prevents progress as each week starts from the beginning for new people
A different dance each week - means you forget what you started with i.e. 8 different basic dances over 8 weeks
8 basic dances in 1 lesson - very confusing
Blocks of lessons - no fixed start or finish date - same as pay as you go, just discounted, so the same problems
JOHN YOUNG SYSTEM - Structured course - start date means you start at the beginning of a programmed course and progressively build your dancing. Works extremely well with positive results.
Attendance at John Young Dance Centre 1 to 3 times weekly builds confidence and is loads of fun.
Many of our students enjoy this leading world system so much they enrol for level 2 courses.

The best way to learn dancing is from a course - you have more fun and the opportunity to meet some terrific people. You don't have different people in the class each week, so you can progress steadily.

Partners are not necessary and couples may choose to stay together if they wish.

All our courses are structured and follow a weekly programme so that everything is covered at the best speed possible for the class, not too fast, not too slow. All levels of ability are catered for.

Where there is more than one course of the same type, eg with three courses a week for beginners social style dancing, members can attend all three. Please wait until the other nights have a first night so that the class is not too advanced. This gives extra instruction and practice and is very popular with our members.

There are numerous advanced courses available to take your dancing to a higher level.

Argentine Tango - the world famous original tango as danced by Argentinians

Salsa - the exhilarating South American Salsa club dance
