Q: What do I wear? A: Wear nice, casual clothing, not too warm as dancing is a great form of exercise. Q: What kind of shoes do I need? A: The best shoes for dancing are ones with a smooth sole. Rubber soles grip the floor and make turning difficult. Ladies should wear a heel height they are comfortable with. Make sure your shoes don't slip off the foot when you move (forwards and backwards!) Q: Where do I park? A: Street parking is often available. Meters apply until 6 pm seven days. After 6 pm you can park in loading zones, 10 minutes zones etc as long as they don't say "At all Times". There is one car space in Federal Street behind St Matthews in the City that is only available if you have a residents permit after 6 pm - be careful that you don't park there. There is a map on this website that shows all the parking areas around the studios. Q: Can I come to all the other classes when I join? A: You can come to all the classes of the same style of dancing at the same level or below, e.g. if you belong to the Salsa 2 course, you can come to all Salsa 1 and 2 classes. You can't come to the social style or Argentine tango classes. Please check that the class is not more advanced than your own. All the courses are at different stages and they may be further ahead than your own class. Q: Do you take credit cards or eft-pos? A: We accept all major credit cards and eft-pos. We also accept Bartercard. Q: Do you do private lessons? A: Yes. Private lessons are $70 per hour for either one or two people. Additional people can join the lesson for $8 each, e.g. a private lesson for 4 people would be $86 per hour (i.e. $70 for the first 2 people and $16 for the additional 2). Q: Do you have classes on public holidays? A: The studios always closed on public holidays. Q: Are you open during the school holidays? A: The studios are open all year except for 4 - 5 weeks over Christmas. We close early December and re-open mid January. Q: Where can I go dancing? A: For ballroom and social dancing check out www.dancehalls.co.nz or www.wheretodance.co.nz. For Tango dancing see www.tango.gen.nz. We can provide you with a list of places to dance Salsa or visit www.salsanewzealand.com
